Three Fingered Press is one of about 6,000 independent publishers that began operations in the United States in 2009. Even though the prospects are bleak for any kind of success, it's possible my imprint will remain in business. I own all rights to my books and can keep the titles in print as long as there is demand for them.

My initial fear was that FINGERPRINTS wouldn't reach the national average of 127 copies sold for a self published book. The sales are inching forward, though, so I'm optimistic. We'll keep going.

In the coming weeks I plan to publish my first novel ALLIGATOR FOOD, a seven-year project that has kept me awake at night worrying how it will be received. I've had several readers review the manuscript and the responses have been overwhelmingly positive:

"ALLIGATOR FOOD is the most sexually honest book I've ever read." Mike in Grass Valley, CA

"I'm not sure I've ever read an author's work that allowed me to visualize events and characters so vividly." Jane in Ft. Lauderdale, FLA

"Wow. You bring the reader with you into the heat of the Caribbean, right down to the deck of Serendipity." Bob in San Francisco, CA

These responses are the reasons why I keep writing. They are also the reasons why Three Fingered Press even exists. In my improbable dreams I sometimes think one of my books will go viral and all my financial worries will come to a screeching halt. In the end, though, that was never the goal. The real dream was that someone would read one of my books and look me in the eye and say, "Lew...You are a writer."

Maybe Three Fingered Press will get me there.
